How website monitoring works

Every 5 minutes (or every 30 seconds on any paid plan), PingGuard sends an HTTP request to your URL — just like a real visitor would. We check that your server responds and doesn't return a server error (5xx).

If your site doesn't respond, times out, or returns a 500-level error, we immediately mark it as down and send you an alert via email and optional webhook (Slack, Discord, etc).

When your site comes back up, we send a recovery notification so you know the issue is resolved.
